Haj committee of India or Central Hajj committee

Haj commitee is an autonomous institution which had be constituted under Haj committe parliament act no 25. Haj committee works under the guidance of Ministry of External Affair India.  Hajcommittee is headquartered in Mumbai and the liaison office of Haj committe is located in New Delhi. The Haj committee comprises of following members:

• 3 Muslim MPs, two are selected by speaker and one Muslim member is nominated by Chairman of Council of states in Haj commitee
  
  
• Nine other Muslim members of Hajj committee are elected 3 from each state that has been sending maximum pilgrims to Hajj every year
  
  
• Four members of Hajcommittee are nominated by the Government representing ministry of home, finance, civil aviation and external affair which are of the rank of joint secretary and above.
  
  
• The Haj committee also comprises of seven other central government nominees from:
  
  
  • Two special Hajj committee members having knowledge about finance, education, public administration
    
    
  • Two women members are included in Haj commitee
    
    
  • Three Haj committe members are selected that are expert in Muslim theology and laws

In all the above cases one of the Hajj committee member should be shia muslim

The main duties of hajcommitee include collection of useful information and arrange training and orientation programs for hajis. Haj commitee also assists the pilgrims with vaccinations, foreign exchange and other related stuff during their journey.

Hajcommittee also makes the staying arrangement for pilgrims at the site of embarkation.

There are various other tasks performed by haj committe including finalizing Haj plan and to provide relief to distressed pilgrims. One can contact hajj committee officials during weekdays from 10 AM to 6 PM.
